ABOUT ANIMAL MAMA
Leading the Fight for a
Rabies-Free Cambodia
Since 2016, Animal Mama has led the Rabies Free Cambodia program, a central part of the Pagoda Protocol campaign, aimed at protecting both community and homeless animals. This comprehensive program focuses on five key services: rabies and core vaccinations, microchipping, neutering/spaying, and deworming. Animal Mama reaches remote areas across Cambodia, providing essential veterinary care where services are often unavailable, helping to improve both animal and public health.
The program has had a profound impact, earning recognition such as the 2020 World Rabies Day Award from the Global Alliance for Rabies Control. Through large-scale vaccination drives, educational workshops, and partnerships with local and international organizations, Animal Mama is driving towards a rabies-free Cambodia. Their continued efforts are focused on raising awareness and fostering a culture of responsible pet ownership.
By engaging with local communities and governments, Animal Mama ensures the long-term sustainability of the program, with a continued focus on rabies prevention and stray animal population control. Together with their partners, they are working towards a healthier, safer future for both animals and humans in Cambodia.
Future Plans
Since 2016, the Rabies Free Cambodia project has successfully administered 72 000 vaccinations and controlled the stray animal population. Looking ahead, the project aims to broaden its reach by expanding vaccination efforts to more areas, increasing community awareness programs, and building stronger partnerships to enhance its overall impact.
